Black River Renewable Energy was born out of a desire to see what has been long been considered a problem (waste) be turned it into a positive (energy). Alternative Energy and Energy Independence has been a hot topic in recent years and so often Wind and Solar are getting the most press. At Black River we see value in these technologies, but believe that methane recovery from agricultural and food waste can and will play a major role in the landscape of Renewable and Alternative Energy. Wind and Solar have been successful because the technology is run as a stand alone business versus electricity from methane recovery which has largely been considered an added bonus to the real need of waste management for a farm or food processor. Black River intends to stop this cycle by separating the system from the site…not physically but operationally. Black River owns and operates the system to optimize the gas output through advanced technology and subsidization of feedstock with other intentional and calculated waste streams. This approach allows the host farm or plant to reap the benefits of a state of the art waste management system and other lucrative/cost saving byproducts of the system, and allows Black River to push the boundaries of the systems energy production.
